Abstract

The experiment on effect of different tree species on site amelioration was conducted during July, 1991 to July, 1993 at Junagadh under semi-arid South Saurashtra region. Among the ten tree species tried higher available N, P2O5 and K2O as well as higher organic matter percentage was noted at 0-20 cm soil depth under canopy of Siris followed by Cordia. The nutrients were also higher in root zone of Siris followed by Manila tamarind. The soil pH under the canopy of different tree species did not change markedly.
