Abstract

Twenty three seed stands of chir pine were selected from its distribution (76o to 77o 30’ longitude and 30o 30’ to 32o 50’ latitude) in the state of Himachal Pradesh and measurements were recorded for height, dbh, clear bole, crown size, needle length and seed weight. Seed collected from these stands was raised at Nauni (Solan) to see the performance of different seed stands and Platu forest followed by Swarghat were found to be the best seed stands for growth as well as nursery characters.
