Abstract

Seedling growth of 12 provenances of Prosopis cineraria collected from wide range of distribution in India were screened for salt tolerance up to 20 ECe levels. The Himmatnagar, Jaisalmer, Anupgarh and Hisar provenances were comparatively more tolerant to salt stress and survived up to 16 ECe level. At 12 ECe level the seedling height, diameter and biomass reduced up to 85.6%, 67.0% and 97.9% as compared to control and they were positively and significantly (P<0.05) correlated with each other.
