Plantlets of Madhuca latifolia Macb., complete with shoot and root have been regenerated from excised cotyledons cultured on MS medium supplemented with different concentrations and combinations of plant growth regulators. Maximal shoot differentiation (directly from the explants as well as from callus) occurred on MS + IBA (0.1 mg/l) + BAP (0.5 mg/l) in 7 wk-old cultures. Axillary buds also developed which produced adventitious roots.
