Abstract

Tricliona picea Jacoby cause extensive damage to leaves of Terminalia arjuna Bedd. and Terminalia tomentosa W. & A. For the chemical control of this pest eight insecticides, an organochlorine namely endosulfan, five organophosphates, viz., methyl-o-demenon, malathion dimethoate, dichlorvos, quinaphos, and two pyrethroids namely, cypermethrin and fenvelerate were screened in the laboratory to find out their potency against adults of T. picea. Cypermethrin proved to be most toxic and least toxic was methyl-o-dementon. Against methyl-o-dementon, cypermethrin was 30,8824, fenvelerate-16, 4063, malathion-1, 4957, dimethoate-1.4747, quinalphos-1.2995, dichlorvos-1.2500 and endosulfan 1.1905 times more toxic to the adults of T. picea. Order of toxicity was almost the same at LD50 and LD90.
