Abstract

Three VA mycorrhizal species, namely G. fasciculatum, G. mosseae and Scutellospora calospora, collected from rhizosphere soils of Ziziphus mauritiana from arid and semi-arid regions of India, were cultured on Cenchrus ciliaris. Pot cultures of these three species were used to inoculate Z. mauritiana in order to assess effect of these VAM fungi on biomass production and nutrient uptake in this fruit plant of India. Thar Desert, Observations were recorded on 90th day after inoculation. Out of these VAM species, G. fasciculatum was found to be the most significant in increasing plant biomass as well as uptake of N, P, K, Ca & Mg.
