Abstract
Significantly higher variations were observed among the characters indicating that considerable improvements in the economic characters can be achieved by selection. There was a highly significant and positive association between seed yield with number of branches, plant spread, number of flowers and fruits per plant, fresh and dry weight of primary branches and secondary branches and number of seeds per capsule, respectively. The path co-efficient analysis for seed yield and oil content revealed that the number of flowers and fruits had maximum direct and indirect effect on seed yield. The number of fruits per plant recorded the highest direct positive effect on oil content. While substantial indirect effect was observed through dry weight of secondary branches and seed weight per plant.
