Abstract

Cymbopogon jwarancusa (Jones) Schultz. (Gramineae) grows wild in Kashmir (India) on the dry slopes of Zaberwan range of mountains, southern part of the valley and down to the plains in Northern India. The leaves of this perennial grass, on distillation yield an aromatic pale yellow volatile oil possessing minty odour which is of great pharmaceutical utility.
