Abstract

In the brain of Lohita grandis the neurosecretory cells are seen at three places. Mediun group (11-12 cells) of A1, A2 and B1 types situated in each side of the protocerebrum, lateral group (2-4 cells) of A2 & B2 types and scattered cells of C, D types in tritocerebrum. The neurosecretory material of median neurosecretory cells is passed through median neurosecretory pathways as NCCI and opens into the aorta, which acts as storage and release organs. Similarly the material of lateral neurosecretory cells is passed through the lateral neurosecretory pathway, NCC II and pours its secretion into corpora cardiac, secreting its own hormone.
