Abstract

The family Orchidaceae has an estimated 736 genera with 28,000 species, distributed all over the world. In India, its total number of species is estimated about 1300. A maximum of 1000 species are recorded from Northeast India. The state of Uttarakhand, located in Northwest India, is home to approximately 244 species of the Orchidaceae family. During plant exploration in the state, some lesser-known orchid species, recently been collected and photographed. Their specimens are deposited in the herbarium of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun (DD), and Botanical Survey of India, Dehradun (BSD). A few are presented on the basis of photographs along with geo-coordinates (GPS). Nomenclature note on Nervilia gleadowii A.N.Rao has been provided.
