Genetic Variability and Correlation Studies for Some Pod and Seed Traits in Khejri (Prosopis cineraria (L.) Druce)

Abstract

Genetic variability in pod and seed of 25 trees of Khejri (Prosopis cineraria (L.) Druce) was studied. Mean square differ significantly for all the characters. Both genotypic and phenotypic co-efficient of variation were high for all the pod and seed characters except seed length. Heritability was high for all the characters except seed length, while high genetic advance was observed for pod length, pod weight, seeds per pod and seed weight per pod. Pod weight was found to be positively correlated with all other characters. Hundred – seed weight had significant and positive correlation with all the pod and seed characters.
