Abstract

Frugivory and seed dispersal of Manilkara hexandra (Roxb.) Dubard was studied. Twelve species of birds and 7 species of mammals were recorded feeding on M. hexandra fruits. Seven birds and here mammals were potential dispersers of seeds. However, only three bird species proved as effective seed dispersed of this plant. Psitacula krameri was a seed predator. Mammalian frugivores play only a minor-role in seed dispersal. This tree provides a transient resource suitable for generalist frugivory.
