Abstract
Teak (Tectona grandis L.) is severely damaged by the leaf defoliator Hyblaea puera in many parts of the country. This affects the biomass production in the plantations. A field trial was laid out to find out the efficacy of the insecticides, viz., cypermethrin, fenvalerate, monocrotophos, acephate, endosulfan, quinalphos and carbaryl against this pest. Spraying of 0.01% cypermethrin, 0.01% fenvalerate and 0.02% acephate was highly effective by reducing 98.08, 96.65, 95.20 per cent larval population respectively.
