Abstract

An experiment was conducted on chlorophyll content of Acacia nilotica grown on flyash mixed with sand, N (Urea) and P (ssp) in different combinations. The chlorophyll content differed significantly among all the treatments in 1st, 3rd and 5th months. The amount of chlorophyll A, chlorophyll B and Total chlorophyll decreased gradually during the study period for all the treatments. The chloratic nature of nutrient deficient plants was due to the impaired photosynthesis attributed to the direct effect on the protein level and the chlorophyll content in the chloroplast. In the present study, flyash + sand mixed with N (2000 ppm) + P (25 ppm) was observed beneficial for increasing chlorophyll content in the leaves of Acacia nilotica.
