Abstract

Three nitrogen fixing tree species of Dalbergia sissoo, Acacia nilotica and Prosopis cineraria sown in polythene bags with different soil media. In all treatments, the germination percentage was higher in Dalbergia sissoo followed by Prosopis cineraria and lowest in Acacia nilotica. Among the treatments, mixture of sand, FYM and soil in equal ratio (1:1:1) showed maximum germination percentage in D. sissoo (91%). In P. cineraria maximum germination percentage (90%) was recorded in 2:1:1. The mixture of sand FYM and soil (1:1:2) showed maximum shoot and root length in A. nilotica (39.7 cm and 37.3 cm, respectively). No. of nodules was more in Prosopis cineraria as compared to other species.
