Abstract

The present paper deals with the studies on rodents and porcupines infesting forest nurseries and plantations of coniferous and broad leaved tree species, raised in various states. They are non-insect pests and their nature and extent of damage, habits and behaviour has been observed. They are very destructive to forest and forest produce, need special attention to save and protect forest resources. The preventive and remedial measures to be adopted under forestry conditions have been described so as to prevent losses due to such natural enemies by reducing their population, as they are injurious to forest as well as public health.
