Abstract
Variability studies of thirty superior phenotypes of shisham were conducted through the estimates of range, mean, phenotypic and genotypic coefficients of variability, heritability and genetic advance as percent of mean for some seed characters. High variability was observed for almost in all seed characters. Heritability and genetic advance as per cent of mean were also moderate to high for seed size, 100 pod weight and root-shoot ratio. Thus, the individual plant selection for these characters will be of great use for improving germination percentage.
