Trial of Exotic Species in Bihar Simaruba glauca

Abstract

Simaruba glauca is a native of El Salvador, it has been introduced in Bihar in 1988. Seeds were obtained from Soil Conservation Department, Orissa. The plant has naturalized itself, in three different agroclimatic zones having acidic soil. The plant has also been tried as bio-barrier for grazed species makes it a suitable species. Branching habit makes it a suitable species for soil conservation.

The fruit of this plant yields edible oil.
