Abstract

The hard coated seeds of Atropa belladonna Linn. were treated with 100, 75, and 50% concentration of Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) for 2, 7, 12, and 17 minutes duration. Treatment of seeds with 75% of H2SO4 for 2 minutes followed by 30% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) for 5 minutes showed good germination (96.55%) and survival of seedlings. Gibberelic acid (GA3) and Indol Buteric Acid (IBA) at the concentration of 30 ppm resulted in best germination and seedling survival.
