Abstract

Acacia nilotica (L.) is one of the most suitable multipurpose tree species for arid zones. Tree improvement programme has been initiated to improve the tree form and other desirable traits. In this context, phenotypically superior mother plants were marked and preliminary studies with respect to the seed germination pattern and potential were conducted. Significant intergenotypic differences were observed, offering wide scope for improvement.
