Abstract

The effect of aluminium on the early seedling growth of Acacia holosericea A. Cunn. ex. G. Don and the Al content of roots, stems and leaves were assessed. The seedlings were grouped into four classes (0-25 cm; 25-50 cm; 50-75 cm and 75-100 cm) depending upon the distance from the point of disposal and Al content in soil. Based on the results obtained, all the morphometrical parameters are decreased with increasing the concentration of Al and also the moisture content of the soil. The Al was higher in roots than the shoots and leaves. The 75-100 cm distance containing lower Al content found safeguard the existing plantations.
