Abstract

The present paper gives the description of a new balitorid loach, Nemacheilus kaimurensis from Kanhar stream near Chopan, Kaimur range, District Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. The species, although allied to N. corica (Hamilton-Buchanan) differs from it in a number of characters, especially in the shape of pectoral fin, wavy margin of fins and colouration of head and body.
